Underwater
It all starts with a great idea or a great photograph. When Michelle sent a friend's photo of a sea turtle taken when scuba diving, I knew it was a painting. Second, I think about what media and techniques could be used. While it looks fairly complicated, I knew some techniques which would make the process easier. We will use masking pen to draw the white lines that define the shell, head and fins. We will use plastic wrap to make the rocks. This example is painted on Strathmore toned tan. The 14 minute video demo was painted in a watercolor sketchbook. Come Tuesday with your turtle drawn and masked. Come chat at 1:30 PM MT and be ready to paint at 2:00. Happy Labor Day!
